CMS Dentistry Services

On your first visit to Dr. Sampognaro’s office, you will receive a thorough initial examination, a suggested plan for treatment, along with a full explanation so you can determine which treatment is appropriate for your dental needs and budget. An estimate of the fees and time involved for the treatment options you choose will be provided to you at this time.

Our friendly staff will do everything possible to insure that your visit is comfortable. We offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral medication, topical creams, music, and TV to ensure your comfort. We practice the concept of “gentle dentistry” which means that we are extra careful and conservative in our techniques. Our caring staff is always attentive and ready to take immediate action to alleviate any discomfort.

In addition to the initial exam we offer the following services:

Preventative Dentistry

  • Cleaning: Cleaning is a preventative procedure that is important to have done at least every six months, more often for certain individuals. This is the single most important procedure that we strongly recommend to all of our dental patients no matter what age.
  • Topical Fluoride: Topical fluoride makes the tooth structure more resistant to decay and encourages remineralization of the enamel tooth structure.
  • Sealants: A sealant is a plastic resin material that is applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. This preventative measure protects and seals out plaque and food from the grooves and pits (prime targets for decay) of the teeth.

Restorative Dentistry

  • Fillings: Minor cavities can be restored with either silver of white (tooth color) fillings. This type of treatment is a good method for correcting small problems before they become larger and more expensive.
  • Crowns: When too much of the tooth is decayed, broken, or worn away, it is best restored with a crown. A crown is typically fabricated with porcelain, gold, or white gold.

Replacement Dentistry

  • Implant: An implant is an artificial tooth root used to support a restoration that resembles closely a natural tooth. Dental implants consist of two parts, an anchor and a crown. A titanium anchor is surgically implanted in the bone by a specialist. This provides a strong and stable foundation for the custom made dental crown, fabricated by our office. Dental implants are cared for in the same manor as a natural tooth.
  • Bridge: Another option for a missing tooth or teeth is a fixed bridge. The missing tooth or teeth is replaced by attaching it to a crown on either side of the space.
  • Dentures: We offer different types of dentures depending on the patient’s needs.
  • Conventional: Our office provides complete dentures when all teeth are missing. The teeth and denture base are made of very durable acrylic and provides an intimate and comfortable fit to their oral tissues.
  • Immediate: When it is necessary to remove all remaining teeth, our office can provide dentures immediately after teeth are extracted.
  • Transitional: Cu-Sil is a denture that incorporates holes for a few remaining natural teeth. These holes are surrounded by a silicon gasket and offer increased stability for the denture. It can easily be transformed into a conventional denture if the patient loses these remaining teeth.
  • Over Denture: A denture inserted over existing teeth or tooth remnants. They are most frequently seen over teeth that have had root canal therapy.
  • Implant Dentures: Dentures retained by two or more implants placed in the bone that aid and support in the stability of the denture.
  • Removable Partial Dentures: When teeth are missing throughout the mouth, removable partial dentures offer an economical way to replace several missing teeth. There are two types: all acrylic and acrylic with cast frame work.
  • Repair and Relines: We offer, in most instances, same day repairs and relines.

Cosmetic Dentistry

  • Cosmetic Dental Bonding: Bonding is an excellent treatment for those who wish to repair imperfections (spots, chips, stains, cracks, or gaps) in one or more teeth.
  • Porcelain Veneers: Veneers are custom ceramic shells that cover cracks, chips, stains, or poorly positioned teeth.
  • Bleaching/Whitening: This is a safe, cost-effective way to whiten your teeth and improve your appearance

Oral Surgery

  • Extractions: We perform extractions only when teeth cannot be saved due to trauma, extensive decay, or orthodontic reasons.

Root Canal Therapy

  • We perform limited endodontic treatment and reserve the right to refer a patient to an endodontic specialist.

Pediatrics and Minor Patients

  • A parent or legal guardian must accompany their minor child. In cases of extreme dental treatment or behavior management, we will gladly refer the child to a pediatric dentist or orthodontist, and will assist you in making the initial appointment.
